赤木りえ

サルサ／ラテン・ジャズ、ソウル・ジャズをアグレッシヴに展開する日本で唯一の女性フルート奏者。85年にアルバム・デビュー。2000年から半年間、文化庁の文化交流使節としてカリブ海のプエルトリコに滞在。以降、日本とプエルトリコの両地域を拠点に活動を続け、毎年、カリブ海でライヴ活動、レコーディングを行なう他、自身のグループを率いてアメリカ、カリブ海でのコンサート・ツアーも実施。05年故パブロ・カザルスが設立したプエルトリコ音楽院の招待教授にも就任。これらの活動が評価されプエルトリコのユネスコから表彰された。最新作「カリビアン・フルーツ」ではグラミー賞受賞ピアノ奏者ミシェル・カミロをゲストに迎え制作された。

Rie Akagi

Rie Akagi is the only Japanese female flutist aggressively developing the salsa/Latin jazz and soul jazz genres. She made her solo recording debut in 1985. Since 2000 she has represented the Japanese Ministry of Culture as a cultural ambassador to Puerto Rico, basing herself in both countries as she performs and records with local musicians and her own group. In 2005 Rie was selected as visiting instructor by the Puerto Rico Musical Academy (established by Pablo Casals). For these activities she was honored by the Puerto Rican office of UNESCO. Her most recent CD, Caribbean Flutes, features as special guest Grammy Award-winning pianist Michel Camilo.
